Saskatchewan Government proclaims February as Therapeutic Recreation Month again this year!
See the proclamation form here.
February is Therapeutic Recreation Month. Recreation Therapy is evidence-informed practice that supports health, wellbeing, and meaningful participation across the lifespan. This month, we are highlighting the theme “Therapeutic Recreation: Evidence in Action.”
Recreation Therapy is a health profession that recognizes leisure and recreation as essential components of optimal health and wellbeing. Recreation Therapists support meaningful, individualized outcomes based on people’s needs, goals, strengths and values. Recreation Therapists work across a continuum of care with individuals experiencing physical, mental, emotional, cognitive, or social limitations, following established standards of practice. Participation in therapeutic recreation supports physical and psychological health, cognitive functioning, personal growth, and life satisfaction. Recreation therapy unlocks potential and enhances lives and we are proud to showcase this profession and our professionals this month and year-round!
TR Month is packed with learning opportunities from CTRA and our partner associations across Canada. These sessions highlight Therapeutic Recreation: Evidence in Action, showcasing practice-informed insights, research, and real-world applications across settings. Whether you are a practitioner, student, educator, or ally, there is something for everyone.
The 2026 TR Month Menu will be coming soon!
CTRA and provincial associations, are hosting a Live Social on Saturday, February 21st at 4:00pm SK time.
The zoom event will be 1 hour of connection, fun and laughter as we connect with other recreation therapy professionals and supporters from across Canada through networking and virtual fun.
There will be recipes for mocktails, games, break-out rooms and prizes.
Throughout the month, we will be posting on our socials an opportunity to share a photo and a chance to win some great prizes!
