2022 Award Recipients

Annually, the Saskatchewan Association of Recreation Professionals (S.A.R.P.) recognizes dedicated leaders in the recreation industry that are members in good standing with the Association.

We are excited to announce the well-deserving award recipients of 2022!

Award of Merit — Bruce Pearson

bruce-pearsonThe Award of Merit Award is given to an individual who has been in the recreation field for a minimum of 15 years, who has been recognized for their entire body of work, who has made a contribution of an extraordinary nature at the municipal, regional, provincial or national level over a number of years and who has made contributions that leave a lasting impact for future professionals.

The successful recipient of the 2022 Award of Merit is Bruce Pearson!

Bruce was nominated by Darren Spelay and Jody Hauta.

Bruce Pearson worked for the City of Saskatoon for 38 years. He held various roles such as lifeguard, recreation programmer, community consultant, site administrator and recreation services manager. Bruce is passionate about the role and value recreation plays in everyone’s lives.

Award of Merit — Loretta Odorico

The Award of Merit Award is given to an individual who has been in the recreation field for a minimum of 15 years, who has been recognized for their entire body of work, who has made a contribution of an extraordinary nature at the municipal, regional, provincial or national level over a number of years and who has made contributions that leave a lasting impact for future professionals.

The successful recipient of the 2022 Award of Merit is Loretta Odorico!

Loretta was nominated by Darren Spelay and Jody Hauta.

Loretta Odorico worked for the City of Saskatoon for 30 years. She held various roles such as playground leader, games room supervisor, building supervisor, recreation programmer, program design consultant and recreation services manager. Loretta played a key role in transitioning the customer service team through advances in technology and software.
